Working with Children and Teenagers
Mind Managed Solutions specialist area is the work it carries out with children and young people from the age of 7.
Issues from bed wetting, food phobias and sleeping problems etc in younger children to instilling motivation, confidence
and self belief in teenagers.
As with adults, children and teenagers are faced with every day issues which can cause them stress, anxiety and trauma.
Please note that a particular incident that occurs for an adult may pass unnoticed, but from the view point of a
child/teenager it could account as a trauma, potentially resulting in a limiting belief such as 'the world is a dangerous
place', 'I'm stupid', 'I'm a bad person’ etc.
The resulting behaviour, from such beliefs in those young people caused by these perceived 'trauma' can manifest in
behaviours such as lack of concentration, lack of motivation, laziness, aggression, lack of confidence/self worth etc.
Issues such as ADHD and Dyslexia are greatly assisted by changing the beliefs in 'self'. This is particularly important
because the greater majority of these young people will have experienced some degree of ridicule, perhaps by some
misinformed members of the teaching profession, members of their own family or by their peers. Even if they have been
fortunate enough not to have been labelled as 'stupid', 'slow', ‘thick’ etc because there condition has been officially
recognized, they will be painfully aware of their own limitations as they themselves struggle with everyday tasks whilst
the people around them appear to glide through life so effortlessly.
There are ever increasing excellent teaching modalities available to families now with children with these conditions,
yet the core issue in the limiting self beliefs that they hold as their own reality are largely ignored so they believe
themselves to be stupid, bad, inferior etc and so act according to those beliefs.
Working to change that mindset and allowing confidence, raising self esteem and MOST importantly the belief that they can
achieve the things in life that they desire, has so far been very successful with the young people that Wendy Wilson has
had the privileged to work with.
Wendy Wilson also works with children who have undergone what therapists refer to big T trauma and this would cover areas of
bereavement, physical/mental abuse, separation from parents due to adoption/divorce, recovery from a severe accident, and
survival after a natural disaster/war zone etc.
These trauma, whether they be perceived small t trauma or life threatening big T trauma can have a long lasting and in
many cases permanent effect on the individual, which they will carry around with them for the rest of their lives,
affecting how they behave and preventing them from living the life that they may have chosen for themselves in terms of
career, financial status and life style choices and ultimately, happiness.
Using a combination of therapeutic tools such as hypnotherapy, EFT/Matrix Reimprinting etc these trauma may be managed in
such a way as to have profound effects on behaviour, attitude and self perspective in many cases.
In all areas of life, be it sports, business, careers, etc, the most successful people are often the most
motivated.
Low self esteem can make many things difficult. Some children (and indeed adults) blame themselves for
things that are not their fault and consequently they underestimate their abilities and expect things to go
wrong.
Lack of confidence can make life difficult for young people affecting them in ways that often make them feel
self conscious, stumbling over words or performing below par.
Hypnosis/EFT/Matrix Reimprinting in children and young adults works remarkably well due to their excellent ability to use their
imagination.
Hypnosis/EFT/Matrix Reimprinting can be used for:
- Boosting ability to resist peer pressure
- Improving self assertiveness
- Gaining the confidence to speak out in class
- Eliminating self limiting beliefs e.g. losing the ‘I’m stupid’ belief
- Help with laziness

Hypnotherapy can help to overcome exam nerves |
 |
- To overcome exam nerves, anxiety, panic and pressure
- To develop positive beliefs and motivation for study and revision
- To find ways of relaxing and using the energy previously reserved for exam stress in a different way
- To relax and use self-hypnosis techniques in conjunction with other types of examination skills and strategies.

How to pass exams using hypnosis |
 |
Many students who don't necessarily excel throughout the academic year suddenly seem to do well once it comes
to exam time. At the same time, many exemplary students freeze when placed in an exam situation even though
they would have no problem at all with the tasks set in a different environment.
So what happens? It appears to be the way that our minds filter information about the exam itself. Some feel
enormous amounts of pressure and are overtaken by nerves because their minds perceive this to be a
threatening situation and react accordingly. Unfortunately, this automatic reaction, designed to be
protective and helpful, actually achieves the opposite of the desired effect. Rather than helping to create
an optimum state for passing exams, a fight-or-flight type response causes the body to become tense and
thought processes confused.
People who consistently enjoy success in exams seem to be able to access an internal state which will help
them achieve all they are capable of. It is to do with their internal strategies, their unconscious beliefs
and values. They generally believe they will do well and so they do.

One session treatment for exam nerves and motivation |
Generally achieved in one appointment the child or young adult is given an NLP/Hypnotherapy session which
taps into their subconscious mind aiming to alleviate stress of exams and visualizations to encourage what
can be achieved with revision thus promoting motivation.
This is generally a highly successful treatment for any student that has upcoming tests and exams e.g. 11 plus,
school end of year tests, GCSE, A Levels, college exams etc.
