Pain is necessary and important because without it we would not know if we were injured or sick. If you are
in pain you must always consult a medical professional before utilizing hypnosis for pain control because
the condition could worsen while blocking the pain. I am only prepared to teach these pain blocking
techniques where the client has received medical advice and the cause has been diagnosed, or the medical
practitioner has confirmed that the pain is serving no useful purpose.
Hypnotherapy is now widely accepted as a method of pain relief and there are many stories of people
under-going surgical procedures and dentistry without anesthetic using only hypnotherapy.
Pain happens as messages are sent, via the nervous system, to the brain which then tells us that we are
feeling it. Hypnotherapists work by teaching the brain how to stop interpreting these signals and telling
our body to react accordingly. Its aim is to give control of the pain back to the person, instead of the
pain being the controlling issue, with the hope of encouraging a more positive approach to pain management.
Hypnotherapy has always proven to be extremely useful in the treatment of post-operative pain and for those
suffering with palliative (terminal) pain. Better results have been achieved when hypnotherapy is started
near to the onset of pain, before it develops into chronic pain.
